The Koreans of North Korea

This week I would like to talk a little bit about the unreached people of North Korea. This country, situated between China and Japan, is not only small in size (only about 23 million people), but also heart-wrenchingly small in the amount of Brother and Sisters in Christ ministering in this country, about 1.5%.

As a child, Korea was probably one of the first places I knew existed apart from the United States, because my Grandfather, Gale Benner, served as a military serviceman in this war. Not only did he see active combat, but he was captured and then narrowly escaped, suffering an injury from a grenade and earning himself the purple heart; a distinguished award for servicemen injured in active battle. He never talked much at all about the war, and all I know about his trials came as stories passed down from my Father. Thought I was only 9 when he passed away, I do know that shortly before my Grandfather died he accepted Christ as his Savior and is now in glory with our beautiful savior. I cannot wait to see him in Heaven someday soon.

Today, the average American sees North Korea, and the North Korean people, as one of the three members of the Axis of Evil; a country ran by Communist President Kim Jong-il and purposed to terrorize America and the rest of the world. However, we as Believers in Christ, see the country and their leaders not as a lost cause, but as a lost country that Christ bled and died for; that he could save them and redeem this lost and truly broken unreached group of people. Though seemingly hopeless, we know there is no such people on Earth truly lost and outside the staff of our rescuing Shepherds reach. This week please spend some time praying for the broken and hurting people of North Korea. We know our Savior has called many to his name in this country, so pray especially that the Holy Spirit would send workers in to the harvest.

If you would like to read more about this unreached people group, follow this link here or email me at benner.steven@gmail.com. We have a Sister in our Church who knows a group of individuals who work to smuggle food into North Korea. I am sure she would be more than happy to give you more information about how you can help serve in this ministry.

The Start

Test blog post.

This is a blog that will hopefully highlight a different people group in the world each week. Commenting on the Lords current work in this people group, prayer points, current missionaries and mission organizations working with this group, and ways to financially support. This is just a rough outline of ideas, but this idea came to me while praying today, so I thought I was set it up and go from here.
